Prophetic Remedies

The Prophet Mohammed (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There is no disease that Allah (God) has created, except that He also has created its treatment."  ~ Sahih al-Bukhari “

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A human being has not filled any vessel worse than [his] stomach. A few bites are sufficient to support his back. If it is inevitable (i.e. eating a lot because he likes eating), then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath”  ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

“Nothing is worse than a person who fills his stomach. It should be enough for the son of Adam to have a few bites to satisfy his hunger. If he wishes more, it should be: One-third for his food, one-third for his liquids, and one-third for his breath.” ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): I heard Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "There is healing in Black Seed for all diseases except death." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Salim Bin Abdullah (ra) narrates with reference to his father Hazrat Abdullah Bin Omar (ra) that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Let fall these Black Seeds upon you, these contain cure for all diseases except death." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

We went out and Ghalib bin Abjar was accompanying us. He fell ill on the way and when we arrived at Medina he was still sick. Ibn Abi 'Atiq came to visit him and said to us, "Treat him with black cumin (Black Seed). Take five or seven seeds and crush them (mix the powder with oil) and drop the resulting mixture into both nostrils, for `Aisha (ra) has narrated to me that she heard the Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, 'This black cumin is healing for all diseases except As-Sam.' Aisha (ra) said, 'What is As-Sam?' He (ﷺ) said, 'Death." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

It was narrated that ibn 'Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best medicines which you use are those which are administered through the side of the mouth, nose drops, cupping and laxatives." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

"Indeed the best medicine in which you can treat yourselves is with Hijama ( Wet Cupping)" ~ Al- Bukhari 

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever is treated with cupping on the seventeenth, nineteenth or twenty first (of the Islamic calendar), will be healed from all diseases.” ~ Abu Dawood

The Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire (cauterizing)." But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire."  ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

The Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) used to like sweet edible things and honey.  ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "My brother has some Abdominal trouble." The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him "Let him drink honey." The man came for the second time and the Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, 'Let him drink honey." He came for the third time and the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Let him drink honey." He returned again and said, "I have done that ' The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, "Allah has said the truth, but your brother's `Abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey." So he MADE him drink honey and he was cured. ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

It was narrated from Asma' bint 'Umays that the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "What do you use as a laxative?" She said: "Spurge." He (ﷺ) said: "hot, hot." she said: "Then I used senna as a laxative" and the Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If there were anything in which there is a cure for death, it would be senna."

`Aisha (ra)  (wife of the Prophet PBUH) used to recommend at-Talbina (Barley) and used to say, "It is disliked (by the patient) although it is beneficial.''

I went to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) along with a a son of mine whose palate and tonsils I had pressed with my finger as a treatment for a (throat and tonsil) disease. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Why do you pain your children by pressing their throats! Use Ud Al-Hindi (certain Indian incense) for it cures seven diseases, one of which is pleurisy. It is used as a snuff for treating throat and tonsil disease and it is inserted into one side of the mouth of one suffering from pleurisy." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

It was narrated that Umm Qays bint Mihsan said: I heard the Prophet say "You should use the Indian incense [al-'ud al-hindi] for in it is healing for seven diseases. It may be taken in the form of nose drops for trouble in the throat or given in the side of the mouth for pleurisy." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Five practices are of the fitrah (natural disposition): circumcision, shaving the pubic region, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Abu Malik Al-Ash`ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Purity is half of iman (faith). 

Oral Hygiene

`Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The miswak (a twig from arak tree used for brushing the teeth) cleanses and purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Were it not that I might overburden my followers, I would have commanded them to use the miswak (a twig from arak tree used for brushing the teeth) before every prayer.” ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Eyes Sight

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best of your Kohl is the Ithmid (Antimony), because it clears the sight and causes the eyelashes to grow”.

Ulcer or Wound

‘Whenever a person would complain from an ulcer (or a canker), or a wound, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) would put his finger in the soil (on the ground after inserting it in his mouth, then raise it) saying, "In the Name of Allah, with the soil of our earth has got a moisture with the saliva of some of us, let our sick be cured, with our Lord’s permission".

Stop Bleeding

When the helmet broke on the head of the Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) and his face became covered with blood and his incisor tooth broke (i.e. during the battle of Uhud), `Ali (ra) used to bring water in his shield while Fatima (ra) was washing the blood off his face. When Fatima (ra) saw that the bleeding increased because of the water, she took a mat (of palm leaves), burnt it, and stuck it (the burnt ashes) on the wound of Allah's Apostle, whereupon the bleeding stopped. ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Fever

Whenever a lady suffering from fever was brought to Asma' bint Abu Bakr (ra), she used to invoke Allah for her and then sprinkle some water on her body, at the chest and say, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order us to abate fever with water." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Plaque

The Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Eye Disease

The Prophet (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "Truffles are like Manna (i.e. they grow naturally without man's care) and their water heals eye diseases." ~ Sahih al-Bukhari

Heart Problem

Sa'd (ra) said, "Once I became ill and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me and placed his hand on the center of my chest, until I felt its coldness on my heart. He then said: "You are complaining from your heart. Go to Harith bin Kaladah, (from the tribe) of Thaqhif for he knows about medicine. Let him take seven dates from Madinah's Ajwah; grind them with their seeds and then give them to you".

Head Pain

Sahih Hadith states that Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said during the illness that preceded his death: "Oh my head". He used to tie a piece of cloth around his head. 

Pimple/Wart

One of the wives of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) (peace and blessings be upon him) said "Once the Messenger of Allah came by when I had a pimple on my finger, he saw it & asked: "Do you have a Tharirah (arum / sweet Flag), I said, Yes". He said, "Place it on the pimple. He then said, Say, O Allah who Transforms the big to small and the small to big, make what I am suffering to small".

Drinking Water

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "Do not drink in one gulp like a camel, but in two or three (gulps). Mention the Name of Allah (i.e., say Bismillah) when you start drinking and praise Him (i.e., say Al-hamdu lillah) after you have finished drinking.

May peace and blessings be upon the prophet Muhammed, indeed he is a mercy to mankind.
